Japan’s Furukawa Electric plans to invest approximately JPY 51 billion in Thailand to establish a manufacturing facility for data center liquid cooling modules, with production expected to begin in January 2028. The project will be developed by Furukawa FITEL (Thailand), focusing on water-cooling modules for AI and high-density data centers.
As generative AI and cloud computing continue to expand, increasing rack power density is creating new challenges for traditional air cooling. Liquid cooling is emerging as a key technology for high-performance computing infrastructure. Furukawa’s investment could further strengthen Thailand’s local data center cooling equipment and supply chain ecosystem.
For Thailand’s HVACR industry, the rapid development of data centers is accelerating the shift from conventional air conditioning toward precision cooling, liquid cooling and advanced thermal management. Continued investment by Japanese and international brands is also creating new opportunities for local manufacturers, engineering companies and suppliers.
Thailand is gradually evolving from a data center investment destination into a regional hub for AI infrastructure and advanced cooling technologies. Data center cooling is expected to become an increasingly important growth segment for the ASEAN HVACR market.
