Europe's prolonged heatwave and record-breaking temperatures are driving a sharp increase in demand for air conditioning systems, creating new export opportunities for Thailand's HVAC industry. According to the Trade Policy and Strategy Office (TPSO) under Thailand's Ministry of Commerce, exports of air conditioners and related parts to Europe reached US$148.6 million in May 2026, up 40.7% year-on-year—the strongest monthly growth recorded in the past seven months. During the first five months of 2026, exports totaled US$783.9 million, representing an 18.9% increase compared with the same period last year.

Among the product categories, heat pump air conditioners recorded the fastest growth, with exports rising 70.6%, followed by air conditioner components (49.6%) and window and wall-mounted units (21.6%). Germany remained Thailand's largest European export market, followed by France, the United Kingdom and Spain, while Nordic countries such as Finland and Sweden continued to post strong growth, highlighting the region's long-term market potential.

Industry analysts attribute the surge primarily to unusually early and prolonged heatwaves across Europe, prompting distributors and retailers to increase inventories ahead of the summer peak season. Beyond weather-related demand, Europe's ongoing transition toward energy-efficient buildings, wider adoption of heat pumps and stricter environmental regulations are accelerating demand for high-efficiency, low-emission HVACR solutions.
