Applied Materials Expands Singapore Semiconductor Cleanroom Capacity with New US$500 Million Campus

Date:2026-06-23

Global semiconductor equipment leader Applied Materials has officially opened its new US$500 million manufacturing and research campus in Tampines, Singapore, marking a major expansion of advanced semiconductor cleanroom capacity in Southeast Asia.

The new facility more than doubles the company’s cleanroom footprint in Singapore and serves as a key milestone in its Singapore 2030 growth strategy. Already operating at volume production, the campus is designed to support increasing demand for AI applications and next-generation semiconductor technologies.

The integrated manufacturing, engineering and R&D hub incorporates advanced automation systems, including autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), automated assembly and testing technologies, and AI-powered quality inspection tools. Augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) solutions have also been deployed to enhance workforce training, equipment maintenance and operational efficiency.

Applied Materials expects the expansion to create approximately 1,000 new jobs in Singapore over the coming years. The investment further strengthens Singapore’s position as a leading semiconductor manufacturing hub in ASEAN while driving demand for cleanroom infrastructure, contamination control technologies, high-performance HVAC systems and advanced manufacturing solutions.

As global investment in AI chips and semiconductor production accelerates, large-scale cleanroom developments such as this are expected to play a critical role in supporting the next generation of high-tech manufacturing across the region.
